McLaren 570GT Overview
The practical, comfortable and luxurious McLaren 570GT was introduced to an appreciative public at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show. The 570GT takes on the classic features of a Grand Tourer, with a new emphasis on comfort and convenience. But make no mistake, the 570GT is a proud member of the McLaren Sport Series, and delivers the critical performance features engineered into the 570S Coupe, including a core structure made of MonoCell II carbon fiber.
Performance & Interior
Stylistically, the new 570GT has a family resemblance to the 570S but does include several unique aerodynamic and cosmetic upgrades. For example, the 570GT sports a sophisticated revision to the door inserts that gradually change over from black to body color. The 570GT is equipped with more noise insulation and an innovative side-hinged hatch glass that opens in the direction of the curb no matter whether the model has right-hand or left-hand drive. The GT also has a tinted-glass, fixed panoramic roof with Sound & Solar Film to block noise and radiation. To new roof is accompanied by a modified rear spoiler that is about 0.5 inches taller than the spoiler on the 570S, a modification that maintains the same aero performance as found on the S model with its flying-buttress C-pillars. The 570GT also features 19-inch fore/20-inch aft cast-alloy GT Design wheels surrounded by P Zero tires from Pirelli.
The inside of the 570GT is graced by a wider array of standard features, including a power adjustable steering column, leather upholstery, front/rear parking sensors power and heated memory seats. The standard 8-speaker McLaren Audio Plus audio system can be replaced by a premium 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkens system. The leather-lined touring deck just aft of the 570GT's buckets is lined with leather and provides 7.8 cubic feet of storage space, bringing the car’s total storage capacity to 12.4 cubic feet. As with the 570S Coupe, you can add a multitude of personalized touches made available by McLaren Design.
As with the McLaren 570S Coupe, the new 570GT boasts of a 3.8-liter McLaren twin-turbo V8 engine that makes 562-horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque directed to the back wheels by the 7-speed SSG automatic transmission with Track/Sport/Normal settings. The 570GT rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and achieves a top speed of 204 mph. To reduce noise with the top down, the exhaust system has been toned down.
The McLaren 570 GT has a chassis designed to go the distance. The setup has been made more comfortable to suit the grand touring purpose of the 570GT. This was achieved by recalibrating the fully adaptive dampers, modifying the roll bar specifications and a reducing the spring rates by 10 percent in the rear and 15 percent up front. The engineers also dialed in a 2-percent ratio reduction in the car’s electro-hydraulic steering, providing a smoother response. The 570GT features efficient and reliable iron brake rotors.
